RFID Tags Apply For Retails

RFID has been playing a more and more important role in the retail market.

Identification-Primary version.

With a microchip in the board,the RFID tags are considered as next generation of bar codes.

The magic chips enable each item its own unique DNA(UID),memory(User memory) and communications(Frequency).,In supply chain management they allow tracking of a product in several stages and locations, When an item goes through the RFID scanners, information is read from the tag, which could include any amount of information, such as:

Order ID number

Product bin location

Order status

Serial numbers for individual product components

Location logs.

At the same time the data could be upload to the system,which could be used to improve the management of the production,logistic,sales etc.

 Anti-counterfeiting-Upgrade version.

Although the RFID tags has several advantages over the bar codes and traditional

authentication and anti-counterfeiting mechanisms.Still,the basic RFID tags cannot provide truly secure solutions.

*Clone content.

The attacker can easily clone the content of the RFID tags from one to another.

*Replay.

The unauthorized readers can record the communication between the authorized reader and a RFID tag,and reply the communication.

But everything has a way out,below are the methods,from the material,structure & Craft points of view

1) ,High level of security (non-clone-able).

PUF-Based RFID ICs+Traditional Methods

There are a number of traditional ways to improve the security level like :optical

variable devices (OVDs), holograms, color-change inks,watermarks, 2D barcodes,however,the attackers have lots of ways to copy,they’re skillful.Although the RFID technology has advantages over the traditional ways,it’s still a primary track & trace technology,the basic RFID technologies cannot provide the secure solutions ,if it’s without the help of PUF-Based RFID ICs.The attacker could easily clone the content of tags,although,the reader could record the communication,and reply it.
